Express Entry Draw #188 | 1,842 CEC Candidates Selected

In a not-so-typical Express Entry draw, Canada has issued 1,842 invitations to Canadian Experience Class candidates with a minimum CRS score of 397.

Draw Summary

Draw Number: 188
Draw Date: May 20, 2021
Number of Invitations Issued: 1842
Minimum CRS: 397
Program Specified: Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
Tie-breaking rule: April 24, 2021

What is different about this draw?

While Canadian Experience Class draws have generally been occurring every two weeks, the recent May 20th draw was held just one week after the previous CEC draw sent invitations to 4,147 candidates.

This round of invitations also saw the second lowest Canadian Experience Class CRS cut-off ever targeted, second only to the historic February 13th draw, which had targeted every Canadian Experience Class candidate in the Express Entry pool.

As a reaction to the pandemic and travel restrictions put in place from March 2020, the IRCC began targeting the Canadian Experience Class and Provincial Nominees to reduce movement across the border. Due to the smaller pool of candidates, this has resulted in unprecedented draws, allowing qualifying candidates who may have not have otherwise received an invitation to apply for permanent residence, a stronger chance than ever before.
