PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAMS

Alberta Invites 184 Express Entry Candidates to Apply for Nomination

Alberta’s Immigrant Nominee Program has held a draw, inviting 184 candidates through their Express Entry stream. The CRS score of the lowest ranking candidate was 300.

Invitees from this draw can submit an application to the province for the chance to receive a nomination on their Express Entry profile. Receiving a nomination under this stream would add 600 additional points towards a candidate’s CRS score. Therefore, successful AINP candidates are essentially guaranteed an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in one of the federal Express Entry draws.

How can I be eligible for Alberta’s Express Entry draws?

Alberta’s Express Entry stream invites candidates directly from the Express Entry pool and therefore requires that candidates have an active Express Entry profile; the profile must also indicate their interest in immigrating to Alberta. Alberta does not select candidates with a CRS score below 300.

Alberta’s Express Entry stream does not release details of their draws, but have identified that the following factors may increase a candidate’s chances:

  • Working in an occupation that supports Alberta’s economic development and diversification
  • A qualifying relative that is a permanent resident or citizen living in Alberta
  • A job offer or work experience in Alberta
  • Graduated from a Canadian post-secondary institution
