Canada Ranked #1 in Best Country in the World Report

According to a report and analysis project headed by U.S News & world report, for the first time, Canada has taken the top spot in the 2021 Best Countries report.

The Top Ten Countries:

Top Spot: Canada
Second place: Japan
Third place: Germany
Fourth place: Switzerland
Fifth place: Australia
Sixth place: United States
Seventh place: New Zealand
Eighth place: United Kingdom
Ninth place: Sweden
Tenth place: Netherlands

What Metrics Were Used?

A total 76 country attributes – terms that can be used to describe a country and that are also relevant to the success of a modern nation – were identified with over 17,000 individuals from 36 countries being asked how closely they associate an attribute to a country. The 76 country attributes where then grouped in to 10 sub-ranking groups, each group carrying a different weight depending on the importance of the attributes.

The 10 sub-ranking groups included:

Adventure;
Agility;
Cultural Influence;
Entrepreneurship;
Heritage;
Movers;
Open for Business;
Power;
Social Purpose;
Quality of Life.

Where in Canada is the Best place to Live?

The Best Country report comes the same weeks as Macleans declares Halifax, Nova Scotia to be the #1 spot to live in Canada thanks to its affordable house prices, excellent health care and great quality of living. Other cities that ranked well in this report include Fredericton, New Brunswick which came in 2nd place, St. Thomas, Ontario, Belleville Ontario and Edmonton, Alberta.
